tool tips with Motif ?

hi !

As part of an improvement of the software on which i am working at the moment, i`d like to add `instant help` on some of the buttons/menus. The best way for that would be to add some `tools tips` (i wonder if this is the official term for that !), i.e these small help boxes that show up when the mouse stays still on the object for a while.

Does anybody know if there are already some tool kits that include this kind of objects ? (Or alternatively would have an idea on how to do it simply, as i am not much of a Motif expert !).

There are commercial ones (see EPak with www.ics.com). There are also freely available ones. Check out the "Software" area of the MotifZone for some suggestions (there is even a widget FAQ there). I didn`t spend a lot of time, but came across one at

It appears to be free for non-commerical use (please check to be sure!). I am sure that there are many more!
